Great minds, in a neutral setting, can solve the great challenges of healthcare today. But the ground must be neutral and the outcomes of equal value to all involved. The Foundation is the first of its kind as it represents no industry, government or constituency.

Where today are the enablers of biomedical innovation and advanced clinical care in emerging markets? They are few and far between. The public sector, under heavy pressure to deliver fast and low-priced services has in most societies skipped over the process of founding true knowledge-based economies. In parallel, the international healthcare industry, without concrete opportunities to invest, has found itself in a position only to export product and manufacturing, and not knowledge. The Foundation seeks therefore to become an enabler and supported of new initiatives which can change the normal course of development and corral disparate sectors towards the long-term investment needed for true societal development.

The core challenges facing healthcare and biomedical development in society today are too often obscured by the special interests of individual sectors who may not themselves realize their own interests are better served by innovation and discovery, both scientific and societal.  The answer is today, as it always has been, political will.  Political will cannot exist however without knowledge and information, something the Foundation is ideally positioned to provide.

Is there a need for a sea change in thinking or an adjustment to a functioning system?  Is finance the enemy of ethics?  Only rational and sustainable programs can answer the dilemmas which are today at the core of the healthcare debate.  The Foundation focuses on concrete solutions which can deliver healthcare to the maximum number of people.  Avoiding the self-serving artificiality of the ethics industry at all costs, the Foundation seeks common ground for the implementation of new programs worldwide.

Rhetoric and politics are the order of the day in the healthcare debate worldwide.  From Washington to Beijing, healthcare is a political football passed from one participant to the other.  The Foundation therefore seeks actively to dispen the myths and cliches of that debate and to provide solid ground on which true solutions can be built.

The Foundation regularly publishes its proceedings to decision-makers in the healthcare arena, always ensuring the representation of each of the core constituencies.
